Summer Tour Preview: Women

The women’s division is the most stable one in terms of Ranking positions. Here is the ranking evolution from June 26th to July 15th.

During Summer Tour 8 teams from the current top 16, quite a lot of the higher ranked teams will be missing:

  • JinX Midnight (1)

  • BFD Shout (2)

  • YAKAYaka (3)

  • Grut (5)

  • Mooncup (7)

  • Iceni (9)

  • Bristol (10)

  • LMU (12)

Their consistency rewarded them with the current standing, but did they calculate correctly? How will the incoming games of 3SB impact the field? How many wildcards will go outside of the current top 16?

MALMÖ-SWE

3rd and 4th of August with 6 teams in attendance:

  • SMOG (16)

  • Seagulls (20)

  • Gravity (21)

  • Aarhus (no ranking)

  • Atletico (no ranking)

  • Hucks (no ranking)

The six teams will play round-robin into the final placement games. SMOG, being the highest-ranked team in this tournament, can improve its position by showing dominance in its performance. Seagulls from Hamburg and Dublin Gravity are regulars at the EUCF and have had good results in recent years. A victory in this tourney would be vital to secure a spot. Atletico from Espoo (current indoor champions) playing in Malmö means that the wild card might go to a team that is not eligible to play the EUCF due to their low number of games played in the ranking.

CHAMBÉRY-FRA

17th and 18th of August with 7 teams in attendance:

  • LUV (14)

  • Wuf. (17)

  • Tequila Boom Boom (18)

  • Sharks (19)

  • SYC (22)

  • Queen Kong (24)

  • ZU Swarm (25)

With 7 teams, this wildcard will be determined by only playing round-robin. In Chambery, we have a very tight field where the wild card and ranking points are all up for grabs. In theory, this should be a Belgian final between LUV from Leuven and Wuf. from Bruges. Tequila Boom Boom from Rimini have not had the season they wanted but are a force to reckon with. Sharks from Barcelona are eager to fight their way to Ostend, and SYC from London, Queen Kong from Grenoble and ZU Swarm from Zurich won’t allow an easy path to the wild card either.

TRNAVA-SVK

17th and 18th of August with 6 teams in attendance:

  • 3SB (4)

  • East Block (6)

  • FABulous (11)

  • Troubles (13)

  • box (15)

  • Outsiterz (no ranking)

This tournament will also be a round-robin with placement games on Sunday afternoon, probably seeing Czech teams 3SB (České Budějovice) and East Block in the final. A solid tournament from FABulous (Bern) should keep the team from Bern safe for EUCF. Troubles from Warsaw are currently in a good position, but it will be their first full tournament that counts towards the ranking. Box Ultimate Vienna also needs to count their points to stay within the top 16. Wins over both Czech teams are the way to go for this tournament.
